Why did muslims murder Baha'ullah by torturing him?

Everyone has their own ego, motives and desires that mislead him. We cannot know what motivated him to stray on his own path and make a mish-mash religion that combines fragments from all other religions into one. This is no different from Muslims today who mix and match scholarly opinions from different Shaikhs to customize Islam to their needs.
