Doctor's office broke confidentiality agreement?

I dont know what to do. My mother-in-law who we have been estranged from for 6 1/2 years was told by my husband's doctor's secretary/nurse (knowing we dont talk to my mother-in-law) all of my husband's records and what has been happening to him. Isn't that breach of confidentiality? I am not sure what i can/should do. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
